Vrushika Mehta, who moved to Canada after getting married, made a special trip to Mumbai for Navratri celebrations. The actress from Dil Dosti Dance (D3) shared that as a Gujarati, her love for Navratri and garba runs deep. She believes that no celebration is complete without it, as the music energizes her and sparks her to dance garba at any given moment. She expressed her excitement for dressing up, meeting friends, and dancing during Navratri. While she has always resided in Mumbai, she dreams of experiencing the authentic Navratri atmosphere in Gujarat someday.
Reflecting on her childhood memories of the festival, Vrushika shared that her mom used to bribe her with chocolates to keep her still while painting three dots on her chin. She was determined to win prizes in garba competitions every night, feeling like a little star as she danced her heart out.
When it comes to her preferred Navratri look, she mentioned enjoying flared chaniya cholis that are lightweight for comfort and gracefulness in her spins. For jewelry, she opts for heavier pieces for reel shoots to make a statement, but chooses more delicate ones for dance events that match her outfit."I used to aspire to win every garba competition during my childhood days." Recalling her childhood experience of the festival, she reminisces, "My mom would dress me up and would chuckle while bribing me with chocolates to sit still as she painted three dots on my chin. I was fiercely competitive, aiming to clinch a prize each night. It was all about dancing passionately and feeling like a shining star." Describing her preferred Navratri attire, she states, "I adore flared chaniya cholis, but I opt for lightweight ones to be comfortable and portray graceful spins. For jewelry, I choose heavier pieces for video shoots to make a statement, but opt for delicate pieces for dancing, ensuring they complement my outfit." Looking forward to celebrating Navratri together, she expresses, "I am eager for the day when Saurabh and I can enjoy Navratri festivities together." Saurabh, her husband, appreciates garba with a distinct style from hers, which she is keen to learn. Though they haven't celebrated Navratri together yet, they enjoyed playing garba during their wedding events. Vrushika shares, "Spins are my favorite, along with the playful popatiyu. I also enjoy incorporating dodhiyu and trikoniya moves for variety." One of her beloved garba songs is "Dakla," known for its infectious energy, and she admires Falguni Pathak's iconic tracks that create the perfect Navratri ambiance. Recollecting her treasured on-set Navratri memory, Vrushika recounts, "During the Dil Dosti Dance shoot, we filmed Dholi Taro Dhol Baaje, which lasted half a day and was incredibly fun! Our D3 gatherings always include garba celebrations."
